Seiko Instruments announced a prototype watch which connects to mobile phones through Bluetooth.

To be able to communicate
via Bluetooth, you must install a special piece of software developed by Seiko on the phone. Beside the normal functions of a watch, the prototype screen will display important information about the mobile phone's signal strength, battery level and ringtone volume.

If the phone receives a call, the watch can play a ringtone and vibrate.
When you receive an e-mail/SMS the watch will display the sender's name and message title.
In case the phone goes outside the Bluetooth range the watch sounds an audible alert. You can also silent the incoming ring of the phone using the watch.

The Bluetooth watch will be available at the beginning of 2007.
