Conan is a video game developed by Cauldron Ltd and published by TDK Mediactive Inc. The game was created for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony, the original Xbox from Microsoft, the PC and the Game Cube; it was released in April 2004. The game is classed as an action title, with some elements taken from brawlers and from fantasy ones; it is played from a third person perspective.
Conan is basically a 3D hack'n'slash game which blends in some light role playing elements by awarding experience points for each defeated enemy. Those points can then be spent on a variety of fighting skills that the characters can learn. There's a combo system that later translates the skills acquired into spectacular results on the battlefield where both human warriors and supernatural monsters will feel Conan's wrath.
There's an interesting way of dealing with the death of a character in the game. If Conan is taken out by enemies, then he needs to fight in an arena in the land of Crom. If you win this fight, you can return to combat and take out your enemies; otherwise, you are condemned to eternal damnation.
A multiplayer Arena mode is available; it lets you take on other human gamers playing as Conan or as a selection of other original characters from the movie.
The game uses the original licensed soundtrack from the Conan movies composed by Basil Poledouris.
