Convirture recently launched ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise for businesses looking for a way to manage Xen and KVM-based virtual machines. Now the company is releasing ConVirt Enterprise 2.0 Starter Edition for small businesses and enterprises wanting to try out the product on a smaller scale.

Since the launch of ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise, a recurring theme we’ve heard amongst our thousands of open source users as well as new customers is that they would like a quick and convenient way of getting started with ConVirt Enterprise,” said Arsalan Farooq, CEO and founder of Convirture.

The great thing about Starter Edition is that, in a very turn-key and cost-effective package, customers can experience all the features and capabilities of ConVirt Enterprise in a product that is not a ‘light’ or otherwise feature-compromised version of our software,” he added.

The Starter Edition is in fact a full-blown ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise. No features have been taken away, no functionality crippled, it's exactly the same product with a single caveat, it can only be installed on a limited number of computers.

The ConVirt Enterprise 2.0 Starter Edition license only covers three physical hosts. This means that admins will only be allowed to manage three machines, but they will be able to do all of the things they would with the regular version.

What's more, the host can run any number of virtual machines. Another limitation is that the Starter Edition only covers four support incidents. After that, the company will have to pay for support, on a case-by-case basis.

ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise is a virtual machine manager designed for Xen and KVM. It's the alternative to VMWare's vCenter for those not using WMware virtualization tools.

ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise is based on the open-source ConVirt 2.0 but adds several tools and support options suited for the enterprise environment.
