Fujitsu might plan to roll out such a product at some point

Computex is over and there’s a trend we noticed on its grounds: 2014 is going to be the year of the 2-in-1 machines.

ASUS launched a whole bunch of them last week and so did HP. But they left it to Intel to top everything with their talk of super-sleek Broadwell-based tablet prototype, which will inspire countless models still to come.

Fujitsu was one of the companies that wasn't in the spotlight at Computex because they didn't unveil any new, shiny products, but the company picked up the 2-in-1 movement too.

As the guys over at MobileGeeks report, at Computex the company put on display and demoed a 2-in-1 tablet that is completely waterproof. You can check out the video below to see for yourself. The keyboard dock part is not shown as being submersed under water and we’re not being given any clarifications whether or not the dock could survive too.

Sony has already made its line of Xperia tablets waterproof and Fujitsu already has some models available for clumsy customers, but this might be the first 2-in-1 to actually boast these capabilities.

Specifications for the device haven’t been made available yet, but the convertible seems to arrive with a 13.3-inch display, although looking at all the 2-in-1s that saw the light of day at Computex, this might as well be a 12.5-incher instead.

One of the company’s waterproof tablets, the Fujitsu Stylistic Q584, comes with a rather nice set of specs. The device has a 10.1-inch WQXGA LED backlit display with 2560 x 1600 pixels and 400 nits. Power is provided by virtue of an Intel Atom Z3770 clocked at up to 2.39GHz with Intel HD Graphics.

Everything on board is fitted with 4GB DDR3 and 64GB eMMC flash memory. Judging by these specifications, we could argue that the convertible showcased at Computex could also arrive with a similar set of specifications.

Even if we see the device being emerged in water only half through, the report says Fujitsu has made the tablet/laptop completely waterproof. It seems the machine enjoys IP67 certification, but this aspect is yet to be confirmed.

For the time being, we don’t know if Fujitsu is just toying around with the idea of a waterproof 2-in-1 because no specifics related to launching date or price have been provided.
