14 DAY TRIAL // We've noted that Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Tab 3 line of tablets, and that, in addition to a 7-inch slate, there are now a 10.1-inch and an 8-inch version. What we are here for is a complete rundown of the larger one's features.
Before anyone asks, we'll be sure to report on the technical specifications of the Galaxy Tab 3 8-Inch as well.
The Tab 3 10.1-inch is, as the name clearly states, designed with a touchscreen whose diagonal is of 10.1 inches.
In keeping with the mid-range theme (the price is still unknown, sadly), the resolution isn't too massive. Instead, Samsung has settled for 1280 x 800 pixels, or 149 ppi (pixels per inch).
Beneath the hood lies a dual-core processor of 1.6 GHz, plus 16 GB of NAND Flash storage space, unless customers lunge for the 32 GB options.
In either case, the microSD card slot allowed for up to 64 GB more to be added at any given time, and left there indefinitely.
Moving on, the amount of DDR3 RAM (random access memory) is 1 GB. It should be more than enough for the processor.
All these components come together and have no trouble playing video in 1080p at 30fps, or, through use of the rear 3-megapixel camera, record at 720p 30fps.
There is a second camera as well, on the front. This one is a webcam for video chats and such.
Furthermore, the tablet boasts Sound Alive and Dolby Surround technologies, the Samsung ChatON mobile communication service, A-GPS ＋ GLONASS, an accelerometer, a magnetic sensor, and a light sensor.
Needless to say, Wi-Fi is present and accounted for (2.4 & 5GHz a/b/g/n), as are Bluetooth 4.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity technologies.
Coupled with the Li-ion 6,800 mAh battery, the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-Inch weighs 510 grams / 1.12 pounds and measures 243.1 x 176.1 x 7.95 mm / 9.57 x 6.93 x 0.31 inches.
