This is one of those one-in-a-hundred types of products for enthusiasts

Memory modules don't really need anything order than a high clock speed and a good heatspreader to qualify as high-end products, but there are some companies that go well beyond even that.

And we're not just talking about intricate heatspreader designs, colorful stickers and ludicrous capacity options.

We're talking about the occasional company that decorates its memory products the same way peripheral makers shape their mice and keyboards: with smooth shapes and LED lights.

Avexir has introduced the Core Gold and Platinum Red memory modules, which get their names from the colored LEDs on the top edges.

The Core Gold have capacities of 4 GB and 8 GB and operate at PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333) to PC3-22400 (DDR3-2800).

They come in single-channel, dual-channel and quad-channel kits, some with two XMP profiles even.

Thus, they will have absolutely no trouble keeping up with the demands of even the most stringent games, in multi-monitor setups or otherwise.

The second collection, Platinum Red, has red LEDs and PC3-10600 to PC3-12800 (DDR3-1600 to DDR3-2800). They will fit in well with mainboards in black+red heatsinks and PCBs.

Obviously, Avexir's products won't really do much for people who don't have a desktop case with a side window. Anyone who owns a “boutique” PC will have cause to at least consider buying the things though.

In addition to LED-lit memory modules, Avexir brought to Computex 2013 in Taipei, Taiwan, some modules with small fluorescent lamps lining the top. They work at low voltages, probably using external power (from a MOLEX or other cable, rather than leeching from the module itself).

The image gallery below was provided by the folks at TechPowerUp, who happened to pass by the Avexir booth at the trade show. Since Computex will last until June 8, we'll keep our own eyes and ears out for further boutique PCs and components.
