The device measures 8 inches and is a lot smaller than its dock

Acer figured it was time to give up the notion that tablet keyboard docks should be the same size as the tablets themselves.

The company has released the W3 Windows 8 tablet, which measures 8 inches but pairs with a full-sized keyboard.

They aren't sold together though. The keyboard dock sells for $79.99 / €79.99 all alone. At least it's bundled with Microsoft Office.

The tablet itself is powered by Intel's Atom Z2760 Clover Trail CPU and has 32 GB or 64 GB flash memory, plus a microSD card slot.

The 8.1-inch screen has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.

Basically, Acer's W3 is the first 8-inch slate to run the full Windows 8 OS. Its retail price is $379 / €379. Pre-orders begin tomorrow (Tuesday, June 4, 2013), and shipments will begin at some point later this month or the next.
