US intelligence officials say they’ve identified another facility used by the Chinese military to conduct massive cyber espionage campaigns.

Officials believe that the Key Laboratory of Aerospace Information Security and Trusted Computing, part of the Computer Science School at Wuhan University, is responsible for developing a unique cyber warfare software platform that can be used for training and for conducting cyberattacks.

The system, called SimpleISES (Information Security Experiment System), allows up to 20 students to conduct cyberattacks, the Washington Free Beacon reports.

SimpleISES is believed to be a key element for the espionage campaigns conducted by the Chinese military.

Several Chinese military entities are funding the lab, including the People’s Liberation Army’s 2nd Bureau of the General Staff Department’s 3rd Department (3PLA), which is known to have at least two other cyber warfare units.
