When it comes to camouflaged secret gadgets, this dog-poop-looking device is bound to stand up as one successful piece of equipment. Disguised as animal feces, the complex military transmitter was a very useful advantage during the Vietnam War.

The “T-1151 Dog Doo Transmitter” was designed back in the 1970s and used as a homing beacon by American troops. It allowed US military personnel to monitor shipments, find soldiers in need of aid and emit warning signals, notes Gizmodo.

The device was positioned in Vietnamese jungles and transmitted radio signals, mostly by Morse code, to help aircrafts locate enemy targets.

It usually looked like the disgusting excrement of a medium-sized animal and had a peat moss crusted shell, no wonder no one would touch it.

The historical artifact is now part of the National Museum of the US Air Force, but some items like this old-fashioned spying device can even surface on eBay.
