The development team at Relic announces that it is delivering two new content packs for its Company of Heroes 2 strategy title, giving gamers two free new maps to try out in multiplayer and the Southern Front DLC for those who are willing to pay.

Players also get access to a set of extra improvements, including leaderboards and integration for those maps that have been created using the World Builder and are delivered via Steam.

The two new maps will increase the variety of the multiplayer matches, with Hill 331 designed to host 6 to 8 players and Don River accommodating battles between 2 and 4 players.

The Southern Front downloadable content is a lot more ambitious than the free additions and invites gamers to experience one of the most important battle spaces of World War II, experiencing the moves that both the Soviets and the Germans executed during 1943.

There are 10 battles and challenges that players will have to navigate, dealing with the muddy fields of the spring thawing and using some of the most interesting equipment deployed during the world conflict.

Relic says that veterans of the game will be pleasantly surprised by the new difficulty level of the fights.

Greg Wilson, executive producer at Relic Entertainment, states in the official announcement that, "These brand new updates show our ongoing commitment to providing the community with regular additions of free and premium downloadable content."

He adds, "We are also very excited that we were able to deliver the Steam Workshop maps integration for the World Builder before the end of the year as it will become a vital part of providing our community with the ability to create their own content."

Company of Heroes 2 focuses on small unit tactics and allows gamers to use infantry, tanks and special commander powers in order to dominate their enemies on a variety of battlefields.
