The developers at Relic and publisher SEGA announce that they have implemented a number of anti-cheating measures in their Company of Heroes 2 in order to make sure that the entire multiplayer side of the game remains competitive, especially for those who use the Automatch feature.

The company says that the move was possible after the addition of Battle Servers, which took place in late 2013, and that they are aiming to make fairness one of the most important elements of the strategy title going forward.

Relic states in an official announcement that, “This week we reset the ladder stats of fourteen players who have used this sort of program to alter our game in competitive play. Those players who we had contact emails for also received a warning email prior to the reset.”

The company is not willing to offer the names of those who were involved in cheating, although plenty of gamers are asking for them so that they can avoid fighting with or alongside them in the future.

The team adds, “Using any third party app or hack to alter how our game plays in our competitive multiplayer is something we consider cheating. It goes against the nature of competitive multiplayer. Players caught doing so in the future may be banned from further online play in Company of Heroes 2.”

Relic wants to make it clear that the anti-cheating measures for the multiplayer side of Company of Heroes 2 should not have any sort of effect on those who are legitimately modding the game in order to add new content to the World War II title.

The studio also has no plans to move against those who are using third-party tools to improve their performance against the Artificial Intelligence in the single player or in quick matches.

Company of Heroes 2 has been receiving constant support from the development team at Relic since it was launched and the community now has access to more Commanders and maps and plenty of units and abilities have been re-balanced.

At the same time, the two companies are currently working on a Western Front themed expansion, which will allow gamers to use both Nazi German and United States forces in a series of new engagements.

The new content is set to be launched on the PC before the end of this year and the team has promised to have more details on the units that gamers will be able to control as soon as possible.
