However, experts say most organizations might be overly optimistic

Norse, a company that provides live cyber risk intelligence services, has sponsored a new Ponemon Research Institute study on cyberattacks.

Before the full report is released in the upcoming days, Norse has published a blog post with a small teaser. It turns out that, on average, companies believe they only need 10 minutes to identify and react to an attack in order to prevent information from becoming compromised.

However, experts highlight that this interval is in deep contrast to the actual cyber security capabilities of the organizations that took part in the survey.

“The time from the moment an organization identifies an attack to when it apprehends it is often a lengthy process and can mean the difference between data breached and data saved,” Norse noted.

“The interval between identification and action is usually directly proportionate to the effectiveness of security solutions in place, and these days most solutions are outpaced by advanced, ever-evolving attack methods.”
