We already reported that the first Nokia smartphones running Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 platform will be manufactures by Compal.

Under the agreement, Compal is to deliver Nokia a certain number of Windows Phone 7 smartphones units in Q4 2011.

However, the Taiwanese media already reports that Compal will start shipping in September the first batch of Windows Phone 7 smartphones to Nokia.

According to the latest hearsay, Compal is expected to deliver a total of 2 million WP 7 devices by the end of the year.

This is great news for those who are still waiting for an appealing alternative to any of the mobile platforms currently available on the market, including iOS, Android, BlackBerry and webOS.

Although Windows Phone 7 has yet to prove its potential on the smartphone market, it appears that Nokia and Microsoft are determined to flood the market with their devices only in the first half of 2012.

If the first batch of Nokia WP7 devices will arrive next month, we can assume that they will be available on the market sometime in October.

In fact, there's a high chance that the first model will be introduced at Nokia World, which takes place in London between October 26-27.

Nokia sold 5 million Symbian^3 smartphones in a single quarter last year, but if it manages to sell all WP7 ordered by the end of the year it will be a very good sign for both Nokia and Windows Phone 7 platform.

Furthermore, the Finnish handset maker will probably start manufacturing its own WP7 devices starting next year, but will probably continue to land orders for third-party manufacturers in case the demand will be high.

Compal seems to be a decent choice as the company has similar WP7 agreements signed with Microsoft and Acer.

All in all, it appears that Q4 2011 will be pretty interesting as many companies are expected to release some their flagship products this time around, including Apple, Google and Microsoft.
