SecureEmail version 1.0

Comodo has announced the launch of version 1.0 of SecureEmail. The free-of-charge product serves the purpose of applying an encryption system and signatures to all the outgoing emails, eliminating thus the need for a public key cryptography system, which forces the sender and the recipient to use two different keys.

"Email is one of the most vulnerable systems to attack. Comodo SecureEmail is the install-and-forget application that can automatically encrypt and sign all messages. Featuring full integration with Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird and other S/MIME-capable email clients, it includes a built-in wizard that allows users to easily download and setup a free Comodo email certificate. This helps automate the digital certificate acquisition, distribution, signature and encryption processes, freely building a secure email community," says the company in a press release.

Since the use of a public key is often too complicated for end users, who need to remember the encryption and decryption piece of code, Comodo's solution comes in handy for them. Every time an email is sent, SecureEmail generates a unique session certificate, which changes automatically with every email sent. If both users who are corresponding through email use Comodo's product, they are guaranteed a safe exchange by the company.

The availability of SecureEmail expands from Windows XP to Windows Vista, covering both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions. The gateways used by most of the companies to assure a safe outside-the-firm email conveyance are indicated to leave inside emails at stake. Comodo says that its latest product sorts out this problem too, "by providing whole journey encryption from sender's mail client to recipient's mail client".

SecureEmail notifies both the sender and the recipient every time an update is made so that the version of Comodo's security software does its job properly. Besides these features, the company offers an easy to install free email certificate.

SecureEmail has been tested, as usual, in the Softpedia labs and proven not to host any malware. The product can be safely downloaded here.
