“Terminator: Salvation” has premiered in US theaters and the first reviews are already coming in but, for one reason or another, the cast members are still set on talking about the highly controversial and much mediated Christian Bale rant that was made public back in February. Rapper Common, for instance, is saying the scandal was the best kind of publicity that money could ever buy, as WENN can confirm.

According to the rapper, who also stars in the movie, having the recording in which Bale could be heard screaming at the top of his lungs and hurling profanities at the director of photography was actually good for the film since it made people notice it and be more interested in it. Moreover, the fact that the recording was picked up and then made a music remix that played in certain clubs helped spread the word even further, so the producers are content with how things turned out, Common says.

“Let’s just call it a misunderstanding… It eventually became promo for ‘Terminator Salvation.’ Some people put music to it and it was a song out in the clubs – [Bale’s] song was bigger than mine.” Common reveals for the aforementioned news agency. As for Bale’s reported temperament issue, the rapper insists nothing could be farther from the truth than that. “I want to say to everybody Christian Bale is a great human being, a great guy, and some things happen like that.” he adds.

Common is not the only one to speak out on the topic of the rant, since the majority of the interviews Bale himself gave as part of the promo tour for the film also included this question. While the actor refused to admit that having the recording out there was, at the end of the day, more publicity for the upcoming film, he did say repeatedly that he deeply regretted the outburst, while also stressing that he was still in character (Bale plays John Connor in the film) when it happened, so he was not acting like his real self at all.

“I’d definitely say that that guy who was yelling was at least half John Connor, and the rest was Christian Bale. Hey, listen, I don’t make any excuses. None of it is excusable. You know, I feel I already said everything about this that needs to be said when I called up the radio station.” Bale was saying only a couple of days ago. Extra publicity or none at all, making the rant public did not seem to help the film that much, since the first reviews for “Terminator: Salvation” are coming in and, safe to say, they are none too favorable.
