It is the first AMIGA-branded PC released in 20 years

Commodore and AMIGA were very important brands a long time ago, and they are still around, having come together for the creation of a new system bearing both of their brands.

Commodore and AMIGA have been rival brands for a while, but they collaborated on the Commodore AMIGA Mini PC.

Alas, unlike initial systems from these two companies, this isn't a “people's computer.” It is far too expensive for that.

Sure, it has an Intel Core i7-2700k 3.5 GHz Quad-Core CPU (3.9 GHz in Turbo Boost), 16 GB of DDR3 RAM and a 1 TB SATA drive (or 300/600 GB SSD), but still.

It is also strange that the graphics card is the NVIDIA Geforce GT 430, with 1 GB DDR3, instead of a card that would make more sense in a $2,495 / 1,895 Euro system, like an AMD Radeon HD 6000/7000 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 500 from the upper mainstream segment.

Still, this is the AMIGA Mini, complete with a case made of aluminum, micro-sandblasted with an anodic oxidation finish. At least there is a slot-in Blu-ray unit and space for a pair of 2.5-inch drives on the inside.

"This is an historic day. The team here has been working around the clock to fulfill the vision of a reunited Commodore and AMIGA branded computer with the launch of our new Commodore AMIGA mini," said Commodore CEO Barry Altman.

"Leo and I and the entire team, started on this journey to prove that we could take these historic computer brands and produce products that are relevant to both the historical consumer base and new customers. These computers are breathtaking in appearance, incredibly powerful and exciting to use."

In addition to the AMIGA Mini, Comodore has released the C64 Supreme and the VIC Mini, plus a stronger VIC-Slim Keyboard computer.

"We built Commodore USA to take advantage of the rapid rate of technological change in the computer hardware market. The introduction of Intel's new Atom processor for compact devices such as the C64x Supreme, VIC-Slim and VIC mini proves that Commodore USA is setting the pace for the computer industry," said Mr. Leo Nigro, CTO.
