On November 26, India commemorated the 2008 Mumbai attacks that were conducted by Pakistan. Hacktivists from both sides launched attacks against government and high-profile websites.

One of the attacks launched by Indian hackers targeted the website of Pakistan’s Lodhran District Police (lodhranpolice.gov.pk).

The attackers defaced the website with the following message: “May all victims and soldiers who gave their life for India just to protect Indians - fighting from terrorists sent by Pakistani Government on 26/11 – rest in peace.”

At the time of writing, the Lodhran District Police has restored its website.

Shortly after Indian hacktivists defaced several Pakistani websites, Pakistani hacktivists launched attacks of their own.

The Pakistan Cyber Army hacked and defaced a section of the Central Bank of India’s website. Also, The Hackers Army breached and defaced the website of the Commissioner of Customs in Lucknow (commissionercustomslucknow.gov.in). Both websites have been restored.
