No vampire connection

Electronic Arts has confirmed the subtitle for the new Command & Conquer videogame and released the box art to be used for it. “Tiberian Twilight” has been chosen by the company from more than 15,000 submissions offered by the fan community of the series, which EA wants to deeply involve in the creation of the last title in the long running franchise. The game is set, at the moment, for a 2010 release date.

Mike Gloseski, who is a producer on Command & Conquer 4, said that “Our sophisticated fans are a tremendous community with a great love for the series. We really wanted to involve them in Command &Conquer 4 - what better way than to have them create the title? We were blown away by all the creative names they came up with but the most popular selection, Tiberian Twilight, seemed the best fit, embodying that the saga is coming to a powerful and epic conclusion.”

Now, the word twilight seems to be inextricably linked to the image of a certain teenage vampire who loves a mortal woman but those who have played the first two games in the Command & Conquer series will remember that they had the subtitles Tiberian Dawn and Tiberian Sun.

Those titles were directly put together by Westwood and, apparently, that team was preparing to use Tiberian Twilight as the subtitle of the third game in the series. When it was finally released, Command & Conquer 3 was named Tiberian Wars but it's fitting to see fans rallying around the last Westwood subtitle and push it for the last iteration in the saga.

Command & Conquer 4 is set to come complete with a variety of innovations. Bases will no longer be static, gamers will be able to choose classes to play as, the game will keep track of all the moves a player makes, requiring constant connection to a server and individual units will be much more important in the single player.
