Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight is set to be the last videogame in the long running series featuring iconic character Kane, so a lot of interest on the part of real-time fans is justified.

One of the best ways to evaluate where the developers at EA Los Angeles are taking the game is an open beta period, which allows any fans to play a limited section of the videogame for a short while and then voice their opinions while there is still a chance to change those gameplay mechanics that are not working right.

And it seems that the time of the open beta is fast approaching, with Aaron Kaufman, who is the community manager for the development team at Electronic Arts Los Angeles, posting a Twitter message, which reads, “C&C 4 beta will be going PUBLIC very soon, every RTS fan in the world can give CNC 4 MP a test-drive.”

Probably the 140-character limit Twitter imposes did not allow him to point to a clearer date for the open beta stage and who would be eligible to take part in it. More details will likely be offered soon, as there's only a limited window for the beta until the March 16 release date.

Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight is set to fundamentally change the formula of the series. Base building will be reduced to a minimum, while more role playing elements will be introduced for most of the units.

Players will take on roles that will determine some of the combat capabilities they can use and resource gathering will be handled via control points that are scattered on the battle map. The single player campaign will focus on the way Kane will try to work together with GDI in order to solve the problem of Tiberium advancement on Earth once and for all.
