Somebody slipped up

The video game industry is constantly changing, not only in terms of the development tools that creators have at their disposal, but also as regards communicating with the target audience. New ways of socialization, like online networks such as Twitter, have revolutionized how average gamers can get their information straight from the companies involved in creating titles or from the people who actually work on them.

But although Twitter has brought a lot of interesting things into our lives, it has also generated an opportunity for mistakes and slip-ups, especially when large multi-national companies are involved. Electronic Arts is the most recent corporation to reveal something that should have been a secret, as its United Kingdom Public Relations account twitted that the EA Los Angeles team had announced Command & Conquer 4.

It was yesterday that this sighting occurred, but as soon as it was online, the post was deleted by the owner of the account. Luckily, gaming website Joystiq took a screenshot of the Twitter page in order to prove that it had in fact occurred. “EA Los Angeles Announces the Development of Command & Conquer 4,” read the post made by the EA_UK_PR account on Twitter.

It also linked to a presumed press release that doesn't seem to exist, leading to the presumption that somebody jumped the gun on the whole announcement and the team at EA hasn't completed its preparations for the event, necessary for the announcement of such an eagerly anticipated title.

Let's not forget that a few weeks ago we reported on a survey made by EA about the next game in the Command & Conquer series of strategy titles. It asked players many questions and revealed some interesting options that the team at EA Los Angeles were looking at for the next title in the famous franchise.

Overall, this still isn't official, so C&C fans, don't get too excited. Let's just wait and see when EA will make the announcement about this new title, which, let's face it, everybody was expecting sooner or later.
