This December, Peter Jackson’s sixth Middle-Earth movie, the final installment in the “Hobbit” franchise, will arrive in theaters. “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies” was also present at Comic-Con 2014 in San Diego on the Warner Bros. panel, so we now have a brand new trailer for it.

Footage was shown during the panel, but as is customary, it wasn’t immediately released to the wider public, so only fans and members of the media present in Hall H at the convention got to talk about it fully knowing what it was about and how it looked.

As you can see in the video below, it was worth the wait for fans at home too. This first teaser looks amazing: it’s beautifully edited and set to music, it includes plenty of heartbreaking images but also action scenes, and best of all, it promises a great deal more of both.

“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves,” Warners says in the official synopsis. “Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town.”

Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Lee Pace, Orlando Bloom, Luke Evans, and Evangeline Lilly, all stars of the upcoming installment, were on hand at the convention to promote it.

If you like what you see in the trailer, keep an eye out for the film in theaters this December.
