Megan Fox is a self-proclaimed geek, and like one (but also because she had it included in her latest film contract), she stopped by Comic-Con 2014, which is now underway in San Diego. Perhaps unknowingly, she also offered the funniest quote to come out of the convention so far.

On the topic of real-life “monsters,” she told People magazine that she had no doubt that the mythical Bigfoot was actually real. It just hasn’t been found yet, but only because the right people never went out looking for it.

“Bigfoot's real. And I have confidence in myself that if I were ever to be taken out on an expedition… I would be the one to find Bigfoot,” Megan says.

I’m thinking she’s joking, but if she is, People magazine doesn’t say it, which makes it look as if she’s in earnest about it. So no wonder celebrity pundits are mocking her for taking herself so seriously, and comparing her to Tara Reid who, just yesterday, said that sharknados could “actually happen.”

The chances for it happening are scarce, but they’re not non-existent. The term “sharknado” was coined last year by the network SyFy, which released a movie about a giant tornado hitting California, sucking all the sharks out of the water and dropping them (alive and sound) onto land, where they proceeded to slaughter the human population.

Megan’s Bigfoot claim might not be as hilarious as Tara’s sharknado comment, but if she was serious about it, it’s a prime example of what happens when you start believing your own hype. I for one am still hoping / thinking she was joking, though.
