There’s no better place to go incognito than the San Diego convention

One of the most amazing things about Comic-Con, which takes place every year in San Diego over 4 fun-filled days, is that you never know who you could meet. In the case of some fans this year, they only found out they were in the presence of a celebrity when it was too late – on Facebook, out of all places.

For years now, since the convention became the biggest event of the kind in the world, celebrities have found the perfect way to enjoy the same experience as fans without being mobbed, and if they’re lucky, without even being noticed: they go in disguise.

Last year, Tom Hiddleston managed to keep his surprise appearance in Hall H a secret until the end and actually walked all the way to the stage without fans finding out he was there by wearing a mask.

Other celebrities have also done this year after year. At the 2014 edition, one of the biggest names that mingled with “mortals” was director Peter Jackson, whose sixth Middle-Earth movie, “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies,” was included in the Warner Bros. panel.

Most fans who interacted with him had no idea who he was, even though they stopped him to take photos. Jackson was wearing one very creepy-looking Evil Jester costume and it wasn’t until Comic-Con was over that he broke the news on his Facebook.

“I had a fun day at Comic Con walking among you all. Did anyone see the Evil Jester? Some of you did because you asked him to pose for pics! Cheers, Peter J,” he wrote. He also posted the photos to prove it – and you can find them in the gallery below.

Somewhere, at least a couple of guys must be feeling very frustrated right now: they were in Jackson’s presence and they had no idea.
