Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 erupted into loud cheering and even louder applause when director Zack Snyder walked up on stage, followed by Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Gal Gadot, to talk about the upcoming film “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” and show a first teaser trailer from it, but the surprises didn’t stop here.

While Snyder was on the panel, a tweet showed up on his feed, timed to coincide with the teaser trailer reveal, showing fans who could not come to the convention a first look at Gadot in character (and costume) as Wonder Woman.

Second to casting Affleck as Batman in terms of controversy was casting Gadot as the Amazonian warrior princess Wonder Woman. Gadot has had appearances in film before, most notably in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, but the bulk of her work comprises modeling gigs.

Unlike Wonder Woman, she is thin and frail-looking, and has no curves, and these were actually fans’ biggest complains in having her in the film.

From the looks of this pic, she does look good in the costume but just looking good is only a fraction of the job. If she does not move with agility or doesn’t convey the impression of strength in battle scenes, she will be, as the saying goes, toast.

Considering Cavill’s impressive physique and the fact that Affleck too has been bulking up, Gadot seems to need to hit the gym even more before she’s even close to being a match for these two.

“Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” will be out in theaters in May 2016, but a trailer should help to set fans at ease as regards Gadot’s ability to make a convincing Wonder Woman.
