Director Gareth Edwards is busily working on “Star Wars,” the 2016 installment that will follow J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode VII” (2015), but once he’s done with it, he will start production on the sequel to this year’s “Godzilla.”

Edwards couldn’t be at Comic-Con 2014 in San Diego over the weekend, but instead he sent Legendary Pictures President Thomas Tull to introduce a message from him, which played on the big screen in Hall H, where the Warner Bros. panel took place, Slash Film informs.

In it, Edwards joked about the potential monsters that Godzilla would be facing in the next installment without actually naming one. It was another video introduced by Tull that actually offered some solid pointers as to which ones we should expect: “the giant pteranodon kaiju Rodan, the giant divine moth kaiju Mothra and the three-headed dragon kaiju Ghidorah,” says the e-zine.

The video didn’t exactly say they would be included in the sequel, it just showed them and let fans connect the dots.

Longtime fans of the monster destruction movie franchise probably know them. For those of you who don’t, I have included photos from the original movies in the gallery below. Of course, expect them to look less cartoonish, more dangerous, and obviously bigger, if they want to be a match for Godzilla.

In this year’s film, Godzilla fought 2 giant monsters and thus saved the world. Seeing how everything in Hollywood tends to get bigger and louder by the year, it would not be that surprising to see him taking on 3 such creatures in the follow-up.
