Zack Snyder shocked an entire community of diehard fans when, at Comic-Con 2013 in San Diego, he announced that Batman would appear opposite Superman in the sequel to “Man of Steel.” Writer David S. Goyer offered a bit more info on the project.

Speaking with ComicBook, he revealed that it’s in pre-production now, though a script isn’t final yet.

“So the next film we’re making, we’re already in pre-production, comes out in summer of 2015,” Goyer said.

“We’re actually not sure whether the title is Superman vs. Batman or Batman vs. Superman but yes, it’s – that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that’s happening,” he added.

As reported yesterday, the film will be based (but only loosely so) on Frank Miller’s comic book “The Dark Knight Returns,” in which Batman defeats Superman.
