Comic-Con 2013 opens next week in San Diego and among the movies that will be intensely promoted is the upcoming “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” from director Marc Webb.

Proof of that is also the fact that Spidey and villain Electro have just landed the cover of the Comic-Con issue of Entertainment Weekly.

Speaking with the magazine, Webb says that the second installment in the franchise offered him more liberty, which he, understandably, found amazing.

“With the first one I felt it was important to retell that origin story. But that was kind of brutal because people were so familiar with it. Now that the origin story is done? We’re off to the races. It’s incredibly liberating,” he says.

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Martin Sheen, and Paul Giammatti, and will be out on May 2, 2014.
