One of the most anticipated movies of 2013 is Guillermo del Toro's “Pacific Rim,” also lovingly referred to as the “giant robots vs. giant monsters” film. Del Toro himself was in San Diego over the weekend, taking questions about it at Comic-Con 2012.

He also introduced the first footage from the film; for the time being, there is no embed, but SlashFilm saw it and promises it was really something else, a trailer worthy of such an insanely anticipated release.

Also then, del Toro said “Pacific Rim” wasn't just a movie about and with robots, but rather “an adventure movie, with a huge, romantic sense of adventure, a sense of grandeur, and operatic battles” – so don't expect this to be some sort of “Transformers” film.

“You can get crazy or lazy, and I chose to be as crazy as I could. [I told my staff,] use creativity and passion and madness as a fuel to make this movie,” the director further said.

“We have flying monsters, sea monsters… We have monsters up the wazoo!” he joked.
