Since San Diego is the place to be right now, as Comic-Con 2011 is under way, all eyes of the industry are on it. Among the films introduced and promoted there on the first day is also the thriller / action movie “In Time” with Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried.

With paparazzi shots of the two on set getting people hyped about the film, the first official trailer for it comes just in the nick of time, to promise a thrilling and original ride.

Check it out in full below, embedded at the end of the article.

The idea for the film is as simple as it’s interesting: until the age of 25, people live life normally, after which they must produce time credits to live more.

In other words, unless they work for or steal said credits from other people, they’re dead. As the trailer shows, this offers the perfect venue for a bunch of Mafioso-looking types to traffic in time.

This also provides some with the opportunity to amass countless years, just like they would money, which, in turn, they can offer to others in return for a life of unspeakable luxury.

In this light, the taglines on the posters for the film get a completely different meaning than before: “Time is Money” and “Time is Power.”

Speaking with the press at Comic-Con, Timberlake, who’s getting more serious by the day about establishing himself as a respectable actor and ditching his pop star career to the curb, said that it was precisely the story that drew him to the project.

“The idea of how could we achieve being young forever [appealed to me]. I just fell in love with the man that he was. An ordinary man being put in fantastical situations,” he said of his character.

“He wakes up with 24 hours on his body clock, so he only has a day to live. [I liked] the idea of what would you do, how would you live; the idea of having to beg and steal to stay alive,” Timberlake added.
