Tracy Morgan comes under serious fire for making homophobic jokes during recent standup comedy number

Tracy Morgan, star of the series “30 Rock,” is now at the center of a massive controversy, after taking to the stage with a standup comedy number and making homophobic jokes. Among them was also the one in which he said he’d “stab” his son if he told him he was gay.

According to TMZ, the whole thing went down at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville last week, but it’s just now that word of it gets online.

There is no video of Morgan making the derogatory comments, but there are plenty eyewitnesses who can vouch for just how offensive they were.

Among other things, Morgan said that gays needed to stop whining “about something as insignificant as bullying,” and that they should also consider manning up and stop speaking in high-pitched voices.

Perhaps even more upsetting, the actor and comedian bluntly said that being gay was a matter of choice and, of course, programming. “Kids learn [it] from the media and programming,” he said.

He also said that he didn’t care who felt offended by his jokes, because, if the gays were brave enough to live their lifestyle, with all it implied, they should be brave enough to take a joke (only that he said in much more brutal terms).

This last part could mean he knew his comments were bound to cause a stir, word online has it.

Since the scandal broke, Morgan has issued an apology to Gossip Cop, saying the comments were a joke, albeit a very offensive and not funny one.

“I’m not a hateful person and don’t condone any kind of violence against others. While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context,” he says.

His co-star, Tina Fey, has also issued a statement regarding the “jokes,” saying she doesn’t understand what could have prompted them, especially since she knows Morgan is “not a hateful person.”
