One might want to not trust the price, being so obviously inflated

Since the time approaches for AMD's release of the Radeon HD 7000 series of graphics cards, listings have begun to crop up online, this once for the Radeon HD 7970.

Dutch e-tailer Comcom has listed the Advanced Micro Devices Radeon HD 7970 graphics card.

Then again, perhaps it would be more accurate to say that it put up a listing of an ASUS card based on an AMD 7000 series GPU (graphics processing unit).

The 7970 is the high-end member of the 7000 series, a collection of boards that, rumors say, is supposed to make its official appearance on December 22.

Unfortunately, that it is a high-tier product is mostly all we have to work with when trying to divine the capabilities of the product.

While the listing is well and truly there, it is, nonetheless, uninformative at best.

More precisely, besides the fact that it is an ASUS product with 3 GB of GDDR5 VRAM, nearly everything was kept under wraps.

Then again, considering that this listing has appeared prior to the expiration of NDAs (non-disclosure agreements), nothing is shocking about this.

At least the video ports were mentioned (three DVI ports, one HDMI and two mini DisplayPorts).

The delivery time is between 1 and 4 weeks, which fits with both the assumed December 22 release and the January 9 launch (just in time for CES, 2012).

As for the price, it is in line with the previous rumors that said it would reach just slightly above 500 Euro.

Comcom stamped a 525 Euro figure there, which turns into 625 Euro when the VAT is added, making the item more expensive than some offers for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580.

Fortunately, this being a very early posting, the price is definitely not final and should go down quickly after the Sunnyvale, California-based company lets the card loose for real.

Given how exchange rates are seldom reflected in product prices, US stores are bound to have the thing listed for $550 or so, whenever that happens.
