Some people buy external/portable hard drives / solid-state drives, and others end up with spare normal SATA drives after upgrading or changing the ones inside their PCs.

For the latter, Orico has released a line of drive enclosures that will take any one 2.5-inch drive and allow it to communicate over USB 3.0.

They are called the SDK25-U3 line and use a single USB connection (USB 3.0) to both power the drive inside and enable the data transfer.

It's unclear if the internal SATA connections are SATA III (6 Gbps) or SATA II (3 Gbps), but the former would make more sense, if Orico bothered installing USB 3.0.

No prices yet, but the SDK25-U3 will sell both standalone and with 1 TB HDDs in silver, black, blue, red and bright yellow. To install the drives, just slide out the top of the case and put them in.
