In the enthusiast circles, Chinese graphics card maker ColorFire is well known for its impressive design, and recently the company has unveiled one of its most impressive creations, a dual-GPU Radeon HD 6850, known as the ColorFire Xstorm HD 6850 X2 4GB.

Just as its name implies, the two Barts Pro graphics cores are joined together using a bridge chip that enables CrossFireX operation and are seconded by 4GB of video buffer memory for high-res gaming.

Outside of the dual-GPU design, one of the most distinctive features of ColorFire's creation is the use of what the company calls the "Silver-Plated Technology."

What this basically means is that the the printed circuit board contacts, apart from the CFBE and PCI Express interfaces, are plated with silver, which ColorFire claims it reduces electrical resistance and improves cooling.

Taking a closer look at the graphics card's PCB reveals other surprises as well, including a set of voltage measurement point placed right next to the power connector, some DIP switches for tuning the voltages of the card, and a pair of jumpers that stand right near the display outputs.

These can be used for switching between the two EEPROM BIOS chips installed on the Xstorm HD 6850 X2, one of them including the stock settings of the card, while the other an overclocked profile. Sadly, ColorFire hasn't revealed the OC clock speeds of the card.

The two GPUs and the memory chips get their power from two 8-pin PCI Express connectors backed by a 12-phase VRM for voltage regulation.

All the components are chilled by a dual-slot cooler that includes a total of five heatpipes and two large diameter cooling fans.

ColorFire hasn't provided any pricing info regarding the Xstorm HD 6850 X2 4GB, nor did it reveal when this solution will make it to market. (via TechPowerUp)
