Irish heartbreaker Colin Farrell has turned his life around from the days of yore when he was known as Hollywood’s hottest and wildest partier, and ladies’ man. He’s also quit smoking, as he says in a brand new interview to promote the upcoming “Fright Night.”

In the remake, Colin plays a vampire, though, as the trailer below will confirm, he’s got nothing in common with Edward Cullen from “Twilight,” who is much more delicate and benign, for lack of a better word.

Speaking of the role, Farrell tells the mag (story via here) he wasn’t sure he wanted to play it, especially given the fact that the market is oversaturated with vampire films and series right now.

Nevertheless, when he saw the script, he just imagined how much fun it would be – so he ended up saying yes.

“I got a call saying ‘They’re remaking Fright Night. Do you know it?’ I said ‘Hell, yeah! I watched that horror film many times growing up. Why are the Hollywood philistines redoing it?’” Colin says of his initial reaction to the offer.

“[When I read the script] I was highly [upset] that I liked it as much as I did. I thought, God this could be so much fun,” he adds.

In the same interview, Colin reveals he’s recently quit smoking, which is a major achievement for him considering how much he used to love to light up.

“It was time. I was a 40-cigarette-a-day smoker, but I wasn’t enjoying it. So on my 34th birthday last year, I spent a day with a pack and consciously looked at every single puff until I smoked the last one at 11:55 that night,” the actor reveals.

“I did a whole ritual thing by writing a letter to tobacco, giving it as much significance as I possibly could. I’m done with it,” Colin states.

He also talks about his love of fashion and how he doesn’t usually fall for brand names as for items he likes, which prevents him from becoming a fashion victim.

Colin also recalls his good and now gone friend Elizabeth Taylor and reveals which is his all-time favorite read. See here for more.
