It sounds like an actual soap-opera plot as two girls, who became very good friends due to all the things they have in common, discover they are actually half-sisters. The two young ladies found out that their mothers shared the same sperm donor, and all of the coincidences started to make more sense.

Mikayla Stern-Ellis and Emily Nappi both started attending Tulane University and met on Facebook during a roommate search.

Mikayla was looking at a Tulane university online database of potential colleagues and she was surprised by Emily's survey responses, which revealed many mutual interests.

Emily already had a roommate so she couldn't accept her new friend's request, but still kept in touch with Mikayla by messages on Facebook.

Their friendship grew and they eventually realized they were both conceived thanks to a sperm donor, who also happened to be Colombian.

Their common friends used to laugh at the possibility of the two being sisters, but despite the coincidences it always seemed a bit far-fetched.

During winter break, Mikayla's mother learned about the girls' common features and saw a photo of the two, that made her think about the possibility, so she asked her daughter to text Emily and ask her for her donor's identification number.

When she received the reply, the family could not believe that the two girls were actually half-sisters, sharing the same genetic material from their Colombian donor. The girls were just mind-blown by the news, and by the fact that, despite the odds, they managed to meet each other.

“We thought [attending Tulane University] she'd just find an education, but she found a sister,” Mikayla's mother says, according to the Tulane Hullabaloo. For Ms. Stern-Ellis, the fact that she found her sibling in college proves she made the right move when choosing Tulane.

The half-sisters discovered even more commonalities with time, they both had a passion for drama, and according to their father's profile, he was also very interested in the field. Moreover, they have the same taste in clothes and other common features based on their shared genes.
