College parties are known for extreme drinking, substance abuse, indecent behavior and many other extreme activities, but one particular fraternity decided to celebrate Martin Luther King Day in one of the most racially insensitive ways possible.

From the name “MLK Black Party” to the youngsters wearing sports jerseys, gang signs and drinking out of cups made from carved watermelons, the event was a major offense for minorities and civil right supporters.

Photos of white teenagers trying to dress and mimic the African-American minority group were all over social media sites.

One unnamed student, belonging to the offended minority group, happened to be at the party and was outraged by the insensitivity displayed by participants.

The almost 100 guests were asked to “dress like black people” and adopt hand gestures that usually resemble street signs. The Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity that organized the party on Sunday was suspended by the University and participants may even have to face more severe punishments.

The national fraternity was founded back in 1899 and has been known for exhibiting an advanced racism towards African Americans and other minorities. The worst part in the display on insensitivity was the fact that it was all on purpose and there is no way the organizers can twist the story to prove it was unintentional.

“I don't think this was a sense of ignorance, I think it was purposeful and intentionally hurtful and they put into play, quote ‘MLK Black Party’ and not in a way to honor King,” civil right leader Rev Jarrett Maupin says, according to Daily Mail.

The fraternity was already on probation after being suspended again just months ago, for an incident with a rival fraternity that ended up with a student being hurt. The TKE was not supposed to throw any parties and especially not one as offensive as this one was.

Members of staff are currently investigating the event in an attempt to find those guilty for organizing a party while on suspension and without the approval of the university. Arizona State University stated that they will not accept this kind of behavior on their grounds and that the individuals responsible will be expelled.
