Video game developer BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts have confirmed that they have shipped the entire Collector’s Editions for the upcoming Mass Effect 3 to retailers and that they simply do not have the time to create more of them.

This means that those gamers who were only now coming around to the idea of paying more in order to get extra content for the game and some physical mementos are now out of luck.

Chris Priestly, who is the communication manager for BioWare, has posted on the official forums of the upcoming game, saying, “Sorry, there simply cannot be any more physical CEs made before launch.”

He added, “The items included in the physical edition cannot be made in time for launch. Sorry, it will not happen. This is why, back in November, I started warning people that the CE would run out.”

The Digital Deluxe version of Mass Effect 3 is still offered on the PC via digital distribution and those who buy it will get access to all the in-game extra content, although they will still miss out on the physical objects.

The Collector’s Edition included an art book, art prints, an exclusive metal case created by BioWare and an N7 badge.

Developers and publishers often warn about the limited availability of the Collector’s Edition that they create for their releases but rarely does one of them actually sell out before the launch of the game and the companies involved are unable to deliver more copies to the market.

Unopened Mass Effect 3 Collector’s Edition might soon become a real collection worthy item for fans of the series and might sell for more than their original value on the secondary market.

Mass Effect 3 will be out on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 on March 6 in the United States and three days later in Europe.
