Square Enix has announced that when Final Fantasy XIII arrives on the Western market on March 9, 2010, nearly three months after the Japanese release of the latest installment of the huge franchise, a Limited Collector's Edition will also be offered for the real Final Fantasy fan. Square Enix is saying that it will offer the package for both the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and for the PlayStation 3 from Sony.

The Limited Collector's Edition of Final Fantasy XIII will feature: an Original Sound Selection, a disk offering tracks from the videogame that have been specifically selected by renowned composer Masashi Hamauzu, a hardback book called The World of Final Fantasy XIII, which will deliver art and backgrounds taken from the game, three prints of in-game art and an exclusive Brand of the l’Cie decal showing the most important symbol from the game.

The box of the Collector's Edition will also be one of a kind. Square Enix has not mentioned how much the new package will cost but players can expect a 10 dollars premium over the normal edition.

Larry Sparks, who is the vice president for brands at Square Enix, stated, “FINAL FANTASY XIII is one of the most anticipated entertainment releases of all time and we’re pleased to announce this LIMITED COLLECTOR’S EDITION for fans across PAL territories, the contents of which have been individually selected by the FINAL FANTASY XIII development team.”

FF XIII broke quite a few sales records when it was released in Japan, and Square Enix is also hoping that it will attract a significant number of Western gamers interested in Japanese role playing games. With the title no longer a PlayStation 3 exclusive, the developer is probably dreaming of dominating the charts when the game arrives in March.
