Bethesda Softworks has announced the Collector's Edition for the upcoming Fallout: New Vegas, the post apocalyptic role playing game set to be launched on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC through Games for Windows. Fans of the series might have to wait until the fall of 2010 in order to get their hands on the game but they can take some comfort in surveying the riches available in the new edition.

The Collector's Edition, which you can see in the screenshot attached to this article, brings along a copy of the game but also a graphics novel called “All Roads” designed as some sort of prequel to the events depicted.

The writer of the story is Chris Avellone, who is the creative director on New Vegas, and the publishing duties have been assigned to Dark Horse Comics. There's also a Making of DVD showing how the idea for the game came together, with the developers themselves offering exclusive insight into the world of Fallout.

The Collector's Edition also makes the buyer the owner of a Fallout: New Vegas deck of cards displaying the characters and the factions that appear in the game. The cards can be used to play Caravan, a title Obsidian created specifically for the new role playing game. There are also Lucky 7 poker chips, showing off the major casinos in the area of the game and a Lucky 38 platinum chip.

Obisidian Entertainment employs quite a few people who worked on the first two Fallout games; plus, the New Vegas area promises to offer a very different experience from that of Washington.

Pete Hines, who is the vice president of public relations and marketing at Bethesda, stated, “We’re offering this very cool collector’s edition to give fans the opportunity to own some of the items that they’ll discover while playing Fallout: New Vegas. We are also expanding their experience with the game by including a top-notch graphic novel worthy of the Fallout name and a DVD that gives them a behind-the-scenes look at how the game was created.”
