There certainly is a market for online productivity and collaboration tools but there isn't a short supply of contenders either. Philadelphia-based WizeHive has stood out through its customization options and also better integration with third-party services like Twitter. The latest release focuses on document collaboration and brings support for Zoho documents as well as better file upload management.
The latest version now boasts a Flash uploader that brings a lot more functionality than the previous one. There is a new file size cap for the system, allowing users to upload files as large as 100 MB, up from the previous 10 MB, but the biggest improvement is the fact that the uploader can manage up to 50 files at a time, a huge step up, as previously users were only allowed to upload one file at time. Of course, if Flash isn't available users can revert to the previous method.
A new versioning system was also implemented and WizeHive now groups files with the same name uploaded at different points in time allowing users to better manage versions of the same file. File management was also improved with the option to edit and view notes, rename files or move them to other workspaces.
Another big feature that is sure to please some users is the support for Zoho documents, as they can now edit and even create this type of documents from WizeHive, all without using a Zoho account. All of the modifications are stored alongside all of the other files on WizeHive.
WizeHive is currently still in beta and will remain free during this period though the company plans to release a final version in September after which there will be three versions of the service. The base version, dubbed Personal, will be free but will come with some limitations and the full-featured releases will be $39 per month plus fees, additional users and storage.
