Colin McRae: DIRT Gets a New Engine

I was already looking forward for Colin McRae: DIRT, as it was going to be released on all major gaming platforms, the PS3, the Xbox 360 and most importantly, the PC (I consider this to be important
as there's a major trend nowadays in the gaming industry of not releasing major titles on the PC, maybe it will become a machine only for MMORPG-let's hope not).

But now, I have another reason to look forward to this rally classic, as Codemasters, the game's developer, revealed that they will use their own engine, Neon to be exact, to power the game. This new engine is Codemasters' own creation, and they have been developing it for over 18 months.

I don't know what's up with different names for games, depending on the launch region. The next Colin McRae is part of this category of games as it will be called Colin McRae: DIRT in PAL territories and DIRT: Colin McRae Off-Road in North America.

Anyway, whatever the game will be called, it will come out sometime in 2007, the sooner the better, I say!
