Soon after making those tough comments on English football & agents, Colin Gordon received plenty of critics from both the FA and the Middlesbrough chiefs. The Football Association urged him to make a public apology for his statements, while Boro’s Keith
Lamb revealed to the English media that Gordon has been banned from the club for the last 5 years.
"
I’m staggered by the accusations made about agents by Colin. He’s been banned from Middlesbrough FC for the last five years. I have seen it suggested that he was instrumental in securing McClaren’s release to become England manager — which is utter rubbish. All negotiations carried out between the FA and Middlesbrough were done through myself and the chairman", said Lamb, according to "The Sun".
Earlier this week, Gordon released a statement, saying that millions of euros have been poured in agents’ accounts related to the bungs’ industry. He also said that English football is one of "the dirtiest" in Europe and that he condemns nobody who thinks badly about football agents. He also represents English coach Steve McClaren and young star Theo Walcott.
Yesterday night, Gordon apologized for his statements and tried to explain his current relationship with the Riverside club.
"
I regret what I said to a degree but I absolutely believe we’ve got a problem and I want to do my bit to solve it. A lot of my colleagues conduct themselves honorably but we’re looking at the small minority. We’re talking about a lot of money going missing. Millions. I don’t have any evidence but I have a lot of experience and people know what’s going on".
"
As for the ban, that’s news to me but I do accept the relationship broke down. My company still represents Boro players and I’m proud of the relationship my employee in that area has with Keith Lamb", said Gordon.
