According to Coldplay, if you're not putting your heart and soul into your music 24/7, all your work is for nothing. "The only way I can work out how to make an album is to just live it and breathe it every day until it's finished," says frontman Chris Martin. "For as long as it takes." For their latest album, X&Y, the band worked 18 months.
But it looks like not everybody appreciate Coldplay, their music or their way of life. The influential Jon Pareles of the New York Times called Coldplay "the most insufferable band of the decade" and he's not the only one who thinks that.
"Everyone tells me it's very healthy," Martin recently told the Associated Press. "It's very depressing, but it's very healthy. We always have this bubbling level of vitriol."
