It's only been a week since the acclaimed band Coldplay released their latest single “Midnight” and there already is an official album coming out. The studio album is entitled “Ghost Stories” and is set to drop on May 19 via Parlophone/Atlantic Records.

It's been 3 years since the last Coldplay album “Mylo Xyloto” came out in 2011 which went on to receive mush praise both from fans and critics, as it managed a Grammy nomination. Now, the band made up of frontman Chris Martin, guitarist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion are ready to release their sixth studio effort that is being introduced with the track and video “Midnight.”

Apart from giving the public the official release date, the band have also given the track listing which obviously includes the slow, almost chill-out song “Midnight,” according to Contactmusic.

For those fans that are simply bursting with anticipation, Coldplay has made available “Ghost Stories” as a pre-order from iTunes worldwide. The twist is that if you pre-order the album today, you'll receive an instant download of the single “Magic” by the band.

Returning to “Midnight,” both the song and the video offer some insight into what the rest of the album can sound like. The video with its photographic negative feel is directed by Mary Wigmore, and it presents the band in a wooded area that has a dream-like aspect due to the inversion between black and white colors.

Halfway through the video, there is a sudden explosion as the setting alternates between nature and cityscapes and Chris can be seen singing in a profile shot. There is a definite trippy feeling about the video which is echoed perfectly by the mellow track, somewhat unusual for Coldplay who are accustomed their fans with big choruses and intricate melodies.

In other Coldplay-related news, the band has announced their participation at the iTunes Festival at SXSW in Austin, Texas. In fact, they will be the act that opens the festivities on March 11. Their performance will be streamed live and on-demand, worldwide for free via the iTunes store.
