Woman drives her car into a guardrail, says she lost control of the wheel because her parrot distracted her

A woman in Pennsylvania, US, insists that her pet parrot is to blame for a car crash that she was involved in earlier this week, on Tuesday.

She says that the only reason she lost control of the wheel and drove her vehicle into a guardrail on the side of a South Union Township road was that the darn bird distracted her.

How this bizarre accident played out

The 35-year-old Pennsylvania woman, whose identity has not yet been made public, claims that her pet bird, also anonymous for now, is an avid coffee drinker.

She says that, while she was driving on the South Union Township road, the parrot started pecking at her coffee cup, desperate for a quick fix.

When the woman took her eyes off the road ahead of her to see what the bird was up to and keep it from taking the lid off the coffee cup, the car went haywire.

As mentioned, the vehicle ended up hitting a guardrail. Luckily, the airbags deployed and the 35-year-old woman escaped with her life, Metro reports.

The doctors who treated her following the accident say that, even with the airbags protecting her, the woman suffered cuts to her face and broke one of her arms.

According to the police officers sent to investigate this rather peculiar car crash, the parrot that supposedly caused the accident also survived the accident.

The woman might be telling the truth

It's not every day that parrots are accused of causing car crashes. Hence, some might believe this story to be pure fiction. Interestingly, it looks like the woman might actually be telling the truth.

Thus, word has it that, while inspecting the 35-year-old's vehicle, police officers found bird seed in a holder next to the woman's coffee cup and a few feathers lying next to the drink.

Even if found guilty of having caused this accident in Pennsylvania, chances are the coffee-crazed parrot will not be sent to prison, what with it being a bird and all.
