Not too long ago, folks living in a remote part of China got into the habit of consuming cow and goat poop crushed into a powder and then mixed with just enough water to obtain a concoction whose consistency is similar to that of a run-off-the-mill milkshake.

The downright bizarre mixture, pictured next to this article, is hailed as a miracle cure. Thus, locals say that it can not only rid people of cancer, but also treat all sorts of other illnesses. There are even stories about people who are now in good health thanks to it.

How it all started

The person who came up with the idea to mix mashed cow and goat poop with water and drink the resulting brew is a woman named Ma Shuang. The woman is now 66-year-old, and was the first to start drinking the odd concoction a few months ago.

Apparently, the woman started consuming the mixture after being diagnosed with lung cancer. She claims that she now feels much better than she did when she was handed her diagnosis, and urges that other people at least give the concoction a try.

Interestingly enough, Ma Shuang maintains that she only got into the habit of consuming the cow and goat poop mixture on a regular basis after, one night, a voice that she heard in her dreams instructed her to do so, Oddity Central informs.

“I was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer last January and despite going in and out of the hospital nothing was helping. And then I had a dream where a voice was telling me to mix the dung of a cow with the droppings of goats.”

“When I woke, I instructed my son on what he had to do and although clearly thinking I had lost my mind, he went and did it anyway,” 66-year-old Ma Shuang told the press in a recent interview.

Not long after Ma Shuang began taking the concoction, one other woman living in the same village in China's Hunan Province started consuming it as well. After she too reported an improvement in her health condition, more people got interested in the mixture.

Not such a crazy idea, after all

According to Liu Shaogui, a specialist currently working with the Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, historical records indicate that, centuries ago, folks populating this corner of the world consumed cow and goat dung to rid their bodies of toxins. Hence, Ma Shuang might in fact be on to something.

On the downside, Liu Shaogui warns that people who consume this mixture risk exposure to all sorts of bacteria and creepy crawlers. As the specialist put it, “Those who try this method run the risk of bacterial infection and parasites if the dung is not properly treated.”
