Maintain has released Cocktail 4.7.2 (Snow Leopard Edition), an update for users of the maintenance tool for Mac OS X. The new version, targeting Snow Leopard machines, fixes one bug, and adds new settings for showing full folder path in window title, ignoring open windows when logging out, enabling Remote disc access and Quick Look folder previews, and more.

The complete release notes provided by Maintain for Cocktail 4.7.2 have been reproduced below:

- Fixed a bug where the trojan RSPlug was falsely detected; - Added "Show full folder path in window title" setting (Interface - Finder); - Added "Don't remember open windows when logging out" setting (Interface - Finder); - Added "Enable Remote Disc access" setting (Interface - Finder); - Added "Enable Quick Look folder previews" setting (Interface - Finder); - Added "Always show Quick Look preview" setting (Interface - Finder).

Cocktail is a digital toolset with a variety of practical features to help users get the most out of their computer. It is a Universal Binary and comes in several editions, for the different versions of Apple’s Mac OS. Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard versions are paid (demo versions are available), while older installments (Panther edition) are completely free to download and use. Softpedia readers can immediately obtain a free, trial version of Cocktail using the download link below. When unregistered, Cocktail Tiger Edition, Leopard Edition and Snow Leopard Edition will run in demo mode and will expire after ten uses (application launches).

Earlier this month, Softpedia reported that Maintain had issued a new Cocktail release mentioning support for Apple’s unreleased Mac OS X 10.6.3. "Cocktail 4.7.1 (Snow Leopard Edition) has been released," the company said on its website at the time. "It adds Mac OS X 10.6.3 compatibility and ability to stop Cocktail from logging out, restarting or shutting down the computer at the end of a scheduled programme," the company claimed earlier this month.

Known to be undergoing rigorous testing still, the third incremental update to Apple’s Snow Leopard operating system is hardly accessible by anyone (although Apple has been reported to mistakenly seed builds to the average Joe), even by a software company creating Mac OS X applications. The only way Maintain could test Cocktail against Mac OS X 10.6.3 would be if the company were a select Apple tester. Since Mac OS X 10.6.3 builds haven’t been leaked on file-sharing sites (as far as we know), this method of obtaining a hard copy of the software is out of the question.

The company is known to work towards creating technical solutions that maintain a computer healthy, making it as efficient as possible. They also offer comprehensive consultancy and support services that cover everything from operation of existing systems to purchase and implementation of new technical solutions, which may just indicate that Maintain is qualified to do some testing for Apple as well. The company, however, doesn’t mention Apple among its listed clients.
