14 DAY TRIAL // Maintain has released a new version of its general purpose utility application for Mac OS X, Cocktail. The new release fixes compatibility with a series of applications, including Apple's Safari 3.2.1, and boasts improved language support. More updates made it into this release, which you can read about below.
Besides addressing compatibility issues with TechTool Pro and Safari 3.2.1, Cocktail 4.2.1 (Leopard Edition) also adds support for the Flock 2 web browser. As noted above, the new release adds more languages to the "Startup language" setting. Maintain also found that more improvements were in order with the uninstaller, and thus tweaked it up a bit. Updated Help files and Automator actions, accompanied by bug fixes round up the list of changes occurring with Cocktail 4.2.1.
Cocktail is a digital toolset that helps Leopard users optimize their computing resources. It simplifies the use of advanced UNIX functions, and gives them access to hidden Mac OS X settings. This way, users can fine tune their systems, enabling or disabling journaling for disks, repairing disk permissions, or setting disk spindown time.

Equally important is Cocktail's ability to change the speed, duplex and MTU of the user's network, or tweak network settings for eight common types of connections. Savvy users looking to tweak their entire system can run periodic maintenance scripts, enable or disable Spotlight indexing of selected disk, erase Spotlight index for selected disk, rebuild Launch Services database etc.
