Cocktail, Maintain's general purpose utility for Mac OS X, has been updated to version 4.1.2. Hitting just two weeks after the last Cocktail update (v4.1.1), the new version adds the possibility to disable dictionary and calculator results in Spotlight, improves Pilot scheduler performance, and more.

In total, Cocktail 4.1.2 packs one new addition, one improvement and a few bug fixes. Along with adding the possibility to disable dictionary and calculator results in Spotlight, as well as improving the performance of Pilot scheduler, the latest version fixes other bugs discovered in the previous release.

Cocktail is a digital toolset that helps Leopard users get the most out of their computer as a general purpose utility. The application is basically aimed at simplifying the use of advanced UNIX functions, giving you access to hidden Mac OS X settings. It lets you tweak them more thoroughly in the sense that you can, for instance, enable or disable journaling for disks, repair disk permissions or set disk spindown time.

Cocktail makes it easy to prebind and re-prebind your entire system or selected folders, run cron scripts, change startup mode and language, force empty trash, update "whatis" and locate databases, and so on. It lets you delete locked or inaccessible items easily, and access and delete invisible DS Store files.

If you've always been looking to have your own, personalized interface, or simply to make it to your advantage, Cocktail lets you customize the look and feel of Finder, Dock and login window.

Last, but not least, Cocktail can also help when users want to change the speed, duplex and MTU of their network or, if they so wish, to tweak up network settings for eight common types of connections. The "apply custom optimization" option helps users even more when they don't want too much fuss.

Cocktail 4.1.2 is available HERE. The general purpose utility for Mac users costs 14.95 $ to buy.
