When it comes to air contamination, most people think about CO2 emissions and various chemical compounds that are part and parcel of industrial development.

However, a new study focusing on Italian air quality has found that eight of this country's cities have various amounts of cocaine and marijuana floating in and around them.

These cities are as follows: Bologna, Florence, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Rome, Turin and Verona.

The specialists who looked into this issue explain that the Italian citizens residing in said cities have nothing to worry about, as these drugs have “minuscule” air concentrations of just .26 nanograms per cubic meter at their highest.

However, local authorities hope that the findings of the new study concerning the Italian air quality will help them in their ongoing battle against drugs trading and consumption.

Besides cocaine and marijuana, the air in Italy also contains traces of nicotine and coffee.
